File sharing- root cause.

So here it is, loci-herein is wading head on into the debate on online file swapping.

Today the Supremes announced that they would hear a case between several prominent recording artists and Grokster (case name: Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios v. Grokster, 04-480).

The fight for the music companies is an uphill one to say the least. Let's consider the two crucial factors that the music industry needs to overcome: (I) people like music and (ii) people like free stuff.

If the recording industry wishes to end file sharing they either need to get people to dislike music or dislike free things. Since the first would put them out of business altogether, it is the second that they have decided to concentrate on... Suing 12 year olds for uploading the latest pop garbage. If this was any other industry the 12 year olds would be suing the record companies for breach of warranty, for manufacture of defective product, and for violations of the environmental protection laws for increasing the amount of noise pollution to intolerable levels.

This case represents the next level (after suing 12 year olds) , suing the file sharing software guys. I say guys because what girl is going to spend Saturday night sitting in front of a computer developing a way for people, she has never met, to swap files- not a single one.

You see in order to understand the development of the file sharing one needs to understand the true purpose of the underlying software. It is so that males of all ages can freely share nuddie videos. This is the dual use technology aspect of the software, while keeping the courts and society busy with the music issues; millions of young, old, and middle aged men send and receive millions of gigabytes of "stimulating" images, audio, and video every day. All under the radar of the of the copyright people.

Therefore my solution to stop the innovation of file swapping programs and thereby reduce the efficiency of the programs is to provide nuddie free of charge to all males over the age of 13- thereby eliminating the need for people to develop more sophisticated porn delivery devices.

You see, sex drives the world and if it is made a little easier to get then life becomes a little easier to regulate.

In an effort to expand this blog site by sharing my ideas (I feel saddened as to the current ambivalence towards Loci-Herein) I am going to say my piece.
This blog site is a sharing of thoughts and creations, as Yitsi so elegantly stated, it is a compendium of ideas... or some bozo-academic bullshit like that.
Just as this blog site is successful (or at least getting there) as a function of the expansion and sharing of ideas, and that electronic flow of ideas is fundamental to the definition of our modern world , the debate regarding the sharing of files will reach an inevitable conclusion: It is merely a function of our environment, and any shackles places are not only ornamental, but also a contradiction. Just as a brickwall stays in place while ivy invents extending twists and turns, internet users will find ways to evade the legal system (Castro would be best in this situation: you share, you die). Eventually governments will concede, either passivly or actively, that file sharing is not a criminal act worthy of being shamed and made spectacle of, but because it is a function of our socially contracted world, the very essence cannot be deviant (by the definition of a deviant act as an outlier).
Well I have said my piece and used this sharing of ideas as not only an example of my argument, but also to help this pitifully attended but masterfully constructed blog. This has been my first experience on a blog, and the second time I can say Yitsi has de-virignized me. (the other time was a big first: dancing on and breaking a table at a formal dinner -- a true compendium of devirginization.

Yitsi,
I have been researching file sharing resources and I stumbled upon your blog. Although File sharing- root cause. isn't what I was really after, it made a change from the usual run-of-the-mill blogs I normally seem to find. I'm going now to find more information on file sharing. Take care.

Blogging is still new to me Yitsi. I never heard of or knew what a blog was until about 6 months ago. Wow, there are so many of them it's amazing. Now they're everywhere. And it seems like everyone has one but me. I was looking for websites with info about peer 2 peer. Then I decided to try blogs. Anyway, I'm trying to improve my site at http://www.p2p-mp3-filesharing.com for all the music and movie lovers out there, and was originally looking for relevant information I could use. Got sidetracked a lttle bit....lol. It was interesting. Thanks Yitsi, Mike
Hi and hello there Yitsi, I get sidetracked easily these days. After spending many hours checking out websites looking for peer 2 peer related info. I decided to try some blog sites. I found much more usable and updated information on the blog related sites than the regular websites...this is very cool. I gotta get me one of these when I find the time. My site at http://www.p2p-mp3-filesharing.com needed some updated info. After that, I thought I would check out some of the other kind of blog sites. Some are pretty cool. It's been fun. Thanks Yitsi, mike
